After building several systems now with a Core 2 Duo processor... initial testing and bench-marking would indicate that the E6300 is the best processor ever for approximately $180. Low power consumption, dual-core, and fast. What more need be said?

Today I see no reason to recommend anything other than Core 2... and specifially am recommending the E6300 and E6600. Unless of course there are extreme budget considerations... then a Presler series CPU could be considered(any 65nm processor)... always on a Core 2 compatible motherboard of course. For an extreme budget system, the 65nm Celeron D 347(3.06Ghz) CPU is running around $50 today. What a great deal for your average user!

I'm sure many will disagree... but that's my assessment on 4/9/2007.

Have a nice day! Smile
